Christopher Nkunku’s perfect response as Nicolas Jackson masterclass wowed Chelsea

Chelsea news: Christopher Nkunku has responded to Mauricio Pochettino’s comment that he and Nicolas Jackson may play together in the future

Christopher Nkunku appears to be very excited about the possibility of Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea suggestion involving Nicolas Jackson. Both strikers were on the score sheet in the 4-3 win against Brighton in the Premier League Summer Series with Jackson also setting up two other goals despite only being on the pitch for just under half an hour.

After the £32million summer signing from Villarreal started the victory against Wrexham earlier in the week, Nkunku was given the nod on Saturday evening and he quickly repaid Pochettino with a smart close-range finish to equalise after Danny Welbeck gave Brighton the lead.

“Of course, for Jackson for Mudryk it is important to score, for Nkunku also,” Pochettino said when asked about the importance of his attackers scoring. “I think players, attacking players need to score and they need to get their confidence and trust in theirself.”

“For sure we will arrive in the next few games at the possibility to play them together. It is that the circumstance of the physical condition mean we need to use both to share the minutes.”

Chelsea have three pre-season games remaining before facing Liverpool on Sunday, August 13 and it is therefore very likely the duo are trialled in the same starting XI. Following Pochettino’s admission, Nkunku has sent a message to Jackson on Instagram which certainly hints he is excited at the thought of playing next to his Chelsea team-mate.

After his brace of assists and superb one-on-one strike, Chelsea, in collaboration with Jackson, posted a photo of him celebrating the goal on social media, with Nkunku replying to the caption of, “a goal and two assists tonight *ice cold emoji*” with two flaming emojis.

Up next in the Premier League Summer Series for the Blues is a clash with Newcastle in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday, July 27 before a fixture with Fulham three days later. Chelsea end their pre-season journey on Thursday, August 3 when they face Borussia Dortmund with focus then switching to their Premier League opener at Stamford Bridge ten days on from that game.
