Bayern Munich ‘willing to sell Man United target Leon Goretzka for £34m’

Bayern Munich have reportedly set a £34million price tag for Manchester United target Leon Goretzka.

According to Sky Sport Germany, the Bundesliga champions are open to selling Goretzka should they receive an acceptable offer this summer.

The German giants are reportedly demanding an offer of between £34m and £42m to sell the midfielder.

Reports last month claimed that Manchester United have closely been monitoring Goretzka’s availability amid uncertainty over his future.

The Red Devils interest emerged as Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel began a summer overhaul at the club.

Tuchel is expected to start the season with Joshua Kimmich and Konrad Laimer in the centre of midfield, with the latter’s arrival raising further doubt over Goretzka’s future.

Ryan Gravenberch and the returning Marcel Sabitzer also added competition for places in midfield, with Tuchel admitting he could not guarantee Goretzka a place.

‘There can always be a situation – like with Lucas Hernandez, who I fully expected – that players have other plans,’ Tuchel told Sky Sport Germany.

‘I haven’t heard that from Leon, but it’s just the beginning of the preparation.

‘There’s a lot of competition.’

Goretzka made 40 appearances for Bayern Munich in all competitions last season, but saw his game-time limited in the final weeks of the campaign.

Man United could look to sign the German international as a replacement for Fred and Scott McTominay, with both midfielders having been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

A sale could also help Bayern Munich raise funds in their pursuit of Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeness has claimed that discussions with Kane have indicated the player wants to complete a move.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly holding out for the £120m price-tag on the England captain.
