Liverpool ‘Firmino talks to join Saudi club Al Ahli’ on a free transfer

Roberto Firmino is in negotiations over a move to Saudi Arabia with Al-Ahli, according to reports.

The former Liverpool forward is a free agent after departing Anfield upon the expiry of his contract at the end of last season.

Still without a club, Firmino had been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona but is yet to agree terms with any of his suitors.

However, he could be on the verge of sealing a move to Saudi Arabia, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer insider has reported that Al-Ahli are in talks to sign the Brazilian and are waiting on his final decision.

Al-Ahli are believed to already be preparing his medical tests in case they get the green light to sign Firmino later this week.

The Saudi side are also set to complete the signing of Firmino’s Premier League colleague, Edouard Mendy, as he is set to depart Chelsea.

Mendy and Firmino could join a host of European stars to make the switch to the Middle East, with Ruben Neves and Kalidou Koulibaly the latest names to move to the Saudi Pro League.

It remains to be seen as to whether Firmino will accept the move to Saudi Arabia, with him previously being linked with a return to Brazil along with a host of European options.
